Wow! Leave a garden for a couple of weeks and watch it explode!
This summer, we have a dedicated group of Swifty families who are committed to helping our garden continue growing and be ready for when students return in the Fall! Last week, the Jennings Monk family kindly removed the lettuce which had bolted and planted squash, zucchini, sweet peas, and more! Thankfully, the deer are staying away and eating poor Mrs. Sedaghat's sweet potato plants instead. Below are some pictures from the garden that I took today!
Also, the folks at Energy Catchers (which is owned by one of our very own Swifty Creek families) have been helping us put the greenhouse together! We're almost there.
And the Swift Creek garden committee has been meeting with Interfaith Food Shuttle (those guys are awesome) to talk about how we can incorporate the garden more into the classroom in the Fall.
Exciting times for us all! Stay tuned!
