Happy Daylight Savings Time! Remember to spring all of your clocks forward. You want to be on time for school tomorrow.
Lots of great things are happening in the next couple of weeks. I cannot wait for the Spring Book Fair (March 18-22) and International Night (March 21). Both are going to be incredible this year. For Book Fair, we have a new vendor, Bedford Falls, so you can hopefully find a wider selection of books. International Night is coming along very nicely with so many families participating!
This week in Tuesday folders, you will receive a sheet for your child to fill out about International Night. Please encourage your child to draw a picture or write a story about your family's heritage and culture. I look forward to displaying all of these in the front hall.
Also, a great way to participate is to contribute a family picture to the display in our front hall. Here is an example from my crew. We have a diverse heritage of French, Italian, German (my side) and English, Scottish, and Irish (Brian's side). Hopefully this inspires you to create your own family picture. Please send your electronic photo to Erin Galloway at [email protected] (or simply reply to this email).
Hope you have a fabulous week!
Marie
Positivity Project: Love of Learning
This week in the Positivity Project, students are learning about the character strength: Love of Learning
What Does It Mean?
You master new topics on your own or in school.
Why It Matters?
Developing a love of learning is highly beneficial for an individual. It means that they are intrinsically motivated to deepen their existing skills and abilities, or learn something completely new. Since intrinsically motivated action is correlated with positive emotions, those who act on their love of learning may also have enhanced mental and physical health.
On a group level, love of learning is crucial. The best leaders have an insatiable desire to learn.
Tuesday:
- PTA meeting and Seminar Transitioning to Middle School
The PTA meeting will be very brief. We will have a presentation of a check for the Read a Book program from the Cary Rotary Exchange and then we will remind everyone that it is time to send your nominations for officers and committee chairs for next school year. Then we will have our presentation from the Family Academy about Transitioning to Middle School. We should finish up by 7:30ish.
Please RSVP at https://tinyurl.com/MSMarch12

Wednesday: Last Basketball Game of the Season
Tonight is our last basketball game of the season. It is an away game but it is at Dillard Drive Elementary, so that's almost home.
Come cheer on our 5th grade Swifties! And please thank Ms. Graves for the amazing job she has done with the team this year.
Due Thursday! An Easy Way to Contribute to International Night
International Night isn't far away and we want every family to tell their story!
To celebrate our diversity, Erin Galloway is creating a display at the front entrance. She'd love pictures of your family! If you are interested in participating, please email an electronic photo to [email protected] by March 14.
We need lots of volunteers to help make our Spring Book Fair a success. You can help during both preview times (when kids get their first peek at the books available and create their wish lists) and on shopping days.
Most time slots are 30 minutes long. Sign up today at: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e094eafae2ca64-2019
