Well, I guess I can't complain if my Internet decides that it wants to take a break on Sunday. Goodness knows the demands we are placing on it during the week. ;-)
Did you see the heartwarming note from Mr. Propst on Friday? I loved the personal stories. I have personal knowledge of the story about the class that had to use chat. That was one of my daughter's classes. At the time, I wondered what was going on. Why I couldn't hear the teacher during the Google Meet and yet Miranda still seemed fully engaged. I was so surprised to hear from the teacher an hour later about how the kids soared about the technical difficulty.
That's when I realized that I often don't give my own child enough credit. She knows her job and responsibilities with school and is ready to take on the challenge. She's ready to ROAR to Soar.
We hope this upcoming week is great for all of you. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Swift Creek in the News!
Great things are happening at Swift Creek and now everyone knows it. This week, the Creek made the news.
- On Education Matters, Lilah D talked about her experience with remote learning. Her family is so proud to be part of our community. Lilah did a great job and we are so proud of her. Check out her part at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=308mLZn2RKM
- This month, our recycling efforts with Johnson Subaru made their Love Promise Blog. Check out the article from Recycling chair, Megan Holler. (We continue our recycling efforts. Check out the article below.)
Yes! We Are Still Recycling Squeezable Pouches, Foil Lined Bags, Markers, and Plastic Film! With so many one use items during this pandemic, it seems like we are generating more trash than ever.
However, thanks to Megan Holler, our Recycling Committee Chair, the TerraCycle and ColorCycle at Swift Creek continue!
Though we’re not in school to pick up these items from you, we would like to offer weekly drop offs during our Backpack Buddies collection at Macedonia Church, Saturdays from 8am-10am. (When you arrive, ask for Marie.)
Here is what we are collecting:
Squeezable snack pouches. These can be ANY brand, not just GoGo squeez pouches.
Foil lined wrappers include smaller chip, pretzel, and cookie bags, as well as granola bars, chocolate bars, etc.
Old markers, highlighters and dry erase markers, will also be accepted, as part of Crayola’s ColorCycle program.
Plastic film recycling. The NexTrex competition for schools is currently on hold, but Megan is happy to recycle these items for you. For a list of accepted items: https://www.trex.com/recycling/recycling-programs/.
IMPORTANT: Collection tips:
- Please make sure pouches and bags/wrappers are EMPTY, with CAPs placed back ON the pouches.
- Store empty pouches in the refrigerator, until they can be dropped off.
- Please have items in separate bags, for easy sorting (all pouches together, all foil wrappers together, etc). They all go to separate recycling programs!
- If paper bags can be used for collection, that is ideal, as these can be composted after the pouches or snack wrappers are removed, even with traces of food still on them! (If plastic bags are clean and dry, they will always be recycled.)
