This has certainly been a week for all the schools in Wake County but I have been so proud and awestruck at how our school community has risen to the recent challenges.
First, we have Forkmaggedon2021, where because of supply shortages the cafeteria is running out of silverware. Parents quickly responded with offers to help and sent in forks and spoons to help make sure that our students have what they need every day. You have no idea how grateful Mrs. Banks and our staff are for your generosity and continued assistance.
Then on Friday there was the bus "sick-out". The afternoon was exceptionally challenging because we had less bus routes running in the afternoon than we did in the morning. (In the morning, 3 routes didn't run but in the afternoon, we had at least 6 buses not running.)
Again our community rose to the call for help from Mr. Propst. Thank you to all the families who responded with offers of help and for coming to pick up your students at school. Your quick action helped make afternoon carpool very efficient and quick. We appreciate all your patience and understanding. Because of your work, our staff was not at the school until late last night trying to get children home.
And let's hear it for our amazing staff ... especially the ladies in the front office, Mrs. Morales, Mrs. Silva, and Ms. Lennon, who simply rocked this unexpected change in the afternoon schedule. They had things down to a science yesterday. All of our staff jumped in and helped in every way possible.
We are at a truly special place. Thank you, everyone, for showing how much we truly are #bettertogether

THE POSITIVITY PROJECT: perspective
What It Means
You appreciate when people see things in different ways. You have the ability to understand the world from multiple points of view.
Why It Matters
Perspective helps an individual make sense of the world. It provides clarity on what matters and what does not. Being able to see things from multiple angles helps individuals remain calm and learn from mistakes; they are typically highly self-aware. Reflecting on their own feelings, thoughts, and motives helps them understand and empathize with other people. These individuals are strong
listeners and ask great questions.
On a group level, perspective helps couples, teams, communities, and societies act wisely and correctly. Individuals with the strength of perspective help their group get through difficult or uncertain circumstances because they’re poised and can identify opportunities for success. Moving into an increasingly complex future, the need for individuals with perspective will only increase.

Teacher of the Year and Instructional Assistant of the Year 2021-22
- Congratulations to Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Bobbie Lipe. Mrs. Lipe teaches kindergarten. If you didn't know, Ms. Lipe has been a teacher for 34 years and all of those years she has spent at Swift Creek. She has certainly seen our school change and grow and she has taught generations of Swifties! We simply love her!
- Congratulations to Instructional Assistant of the Year, Mrs. Lauren Jordan. Mrs. Jordan is the lead IA so not only does she have her regular duties in Ms. Lipe's kindergarten class but she also helps throughout the school and mentors and leads the other IAs. FALL SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR:
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 8 THRU WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 10
For students and staff, Preview Day is Monday and sale days are Tuesday and Wednesday.
Information will be provided so Parents/Family/Friends are able to set up an e-wallet and "shop" the fair even though they cannot attend the in-school event. They can select items they wish to purchase, and volunteers will do the physical shopping for them. This will allow the school to receive double the proceeds versus virtual purchases.
