Tonight, the Wake County school board approved our very own Mrs. Miller as the new principal at Middle Creek Elementary School.
I know this news is very unexpected, especially when Mr. Propst has just come on board. Please understand that becoming a principal has been one of Mrs. Miller's personal goals for several years, and after watching her the past several months, it is obvious that she is ready for it.
I talked with Mrs. Miller this afternoon, and I can tell she has mixed feelings. While she is excited about the new position, she is sad to be leaving Swift Creek and these kids. She is very attached to them and they to her (as was evident by my Sophie's reaction to the news).
So what about Swift Creek? Our new assistant principal, Gia Hoke, was also named at tonight's School Board meeting. She will be starting Nov 1. Ms. Hoke has recently been the assistant principal at Apex Middle. Apparently, she started as a TA and has worked her way up to being an assistant principal. Her knowledge of Wake County will be an asset to Mr. Propst I'm sure.
With a new principal and assistant principal coming on board, parent involvement at Swift Creek is even more important. We can work together to help Mr. Propst and Ms. Hoke learn about Swift Creek and become successful. Because in the end, what really matters are our kids...
Please feel free to share this news with others.
