Our Fun Run fundraising goal was $17,000. Our total ended up being $15,500. As a result, we needed to make some minor changes to the budget to reclaim the $1500 that we didn't raise. During this meeting, we made the following budget adjustments:
* $1000 designated for a collaborative space in the media center was removed and the money added back to the budget.
* $100 was removed for Type to Learn. The school doesn't use this program anymore.
* $400 was removed from the 5th grade celebration expense. The original budget was $600 and we lowered it to $200.
In addition to these budget changes, we approved changing the line item for the Track Team to Athletic Clubs. This way, Ms. Graves can use the money on the new Basketball Club and a possible Running Club. (We will not have a Track Team this year since we aren't invited to the end of the year meet.)
We also announced the Reflection winners for 2016. Christian P. also placed 3rd in the Visual Arts category in the Wake County competition.
The Science Fair is open to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and will be held Jan 12. Entry forms must be turned in by Jan 6. The winter break is a great time to work on these projects. Entry forms and ideas are available from the Science Fair page.
Mr. Propst concluded the meeting with a discussion of Swift Creek's School Improvement plan. The goal to have 95% of students College and Career ready by 2020 (this reflects the Wake County Public School System policy). Swift Creek will focus on differentiation in Language Arts and Math through Dynamic Learning experiences- this refers to project based learning and problem based learning.
