I hope your summer is off to a great start! Believe it or not, I've kind of missed sending this weekly email. It always makes me so happy to see what is going on at our school.
There are some exciting things happening at the Creek that I wanted to share with you!
Enjoy!
Marie
PS If you know a family who is joining us next year and who would like to receive these emails, please let me know. If you want off this list, please let me know that too. :-)
Thursday, Aug 22 4-6pm: Meet the Teacher
Come meet your teacher for the 2019-20 school year! You'll also have the opportunity to register for before and after school care; join the PTA; find out about carpool and bus transportation; and much, much more!
Wed, June 26 1-5pm: Swift Creek at JellyBeans
Are you missing your Swifty friends? Here is an opportunity to hang out and have some fun! JellyBeans is giving all Swift Creek families a discount to come skate Wednesday afternoon. All you need to do is show this flyer or mention that you are with Swift Creek.
We will have two more of these events this summer: July 17 and Aug 7
Thank you to Lynn Kelly for setting these up!
I am currently looking at a possible evening activity for working families. If you have a suggestion, reply to this email.
Please note: The school does not receive any portion of the sales from this event.
The Results are In from Chick-Fil-A Night
We finally received our check from Chick-Fil-A night. When I opened the envelope, I gasped. From the sales proceeds and the spin the wheel game, we raised $705 for the Creek. Then on top of that we raised $158 from selling $1 sundaes.
That makes our total $836 for the night!!!! WOW! Thanks to everyone for coming out!
Our New Buddy Benches are Here!
The idea behind a Buddy Bench is that a child who is feeling left out or shy sits on the bench to signal to other kids to come and help.
This fall, we will be proud to introduce 2 Buddy Benches on our playground. These benches were created by Nate H as part of his Eagle Scout project. Nate is also a former Swifty!
The benches are incredible. Such fine attention to detail. No worries about kiddos getting snagged on nails or screws because Nate used pocket holes. The benches are beautifully sanded and beveled at the corners. You can view them from the PTA website or on Facebook.
The New Box Top App is Now Available
Thank you to all our families who collect Box Tops for our school! Over the next few years, you will see less and less Box Tops on packages. The Box Top program is going digital!
Here is how you can participate:
1. Download the new Box Top app on your phone.
2. Take a picture of your receipt.
You're done! It is that easy. Box Tops has always been a great way to earn money for our school. We've used this money to buy items for music, PE, and software for K-2. To keep it going, we need your help!
For more information about the program, see this flyer! And if you see any physical Box Tops, clip them and turn them in to your child's teacher in August!
We will also continue collecting Coke Bottle tops!
Our Garden is Growing by Leaps and Bounds!
At the end of the year, many of our Swifties had the opportunity to plant beans, watermelon, cucumbers, and more in the gardens. Thanks to recent rains and our Garden Gnome families the garden is thriving! (Someone even commented to me yesterday at how good they looked.)
You can check out the pictures from our Garden Journal.
