Sharing Our stories: 90th anniversary Celebration
Have you ever wondered why Swift Creek has an official US Postal Service mailbox in the hallway?
In 1995, elementary schools in WCPSS were encouraged to participate in Wee Deliver, a national program started by SS Postal Service in the mid80s to get children excited about reading and writing.
Miniature post offices have popped all over schools in Wake County including the one at Swift Creek.
Students and teachers create mock street addresses for each classroom and fictitious cities to go along with the school’s themes. Th mail was picked up once a month and mailed to different schools.
Today, we use the mailbox as our Big Ideas box! I'd love to hear the stories this box could tell. Maybe you or someone you know sent a letter. We'd love to hear about it!
- Share your story or memory at https://tinyurl.com/sces90
- Share this link with your Swift Creek friends, family, community members, every where! If someone has memorabilia, yearbooks, pictures, school spirit wear, etc that we can display at the anniversary party, ask them to contact Marie Dexter at [email protected] or 919-602-9993.
If you know someone who I should reach out to, please let me know ASAP! Marie Dexter [email protected] or 919-602-9993

Information for School Lunch Next Year (ALL GRADE LEVELS)
All families must complete an application for the 2022-2023 school year starting July 1 in order to receive benefits. Please allow 10 business days for processing.
For every student that turns in the free and reduced meals application and qualifies, the school also receives federal funds that benefit the students and teachers at the school.
We need you to complete a 2022-2023 meal benefits application so our school can be eligible for extra funding next year. If you have not completed a free or reduced-price meal application and think your child may be eligible, pick up an application at your child’s school or apply online. Paper applications can also be requested by calling 919-588-3535 or 919-856-2920 or emailing [email protected].
2022-23 meal prices
- K-5 Breakfast $1.50 and lunch $3.00
- 6-12 Breakfast $1.75 and lunch $3.25
Advocacy
This Week in Pictures
Students in the lower grades wrote notes of encouragement to students in the upper grades. In addition, the specialists had a note with a cute, little duck for every student. These notes were on each student's desk when they arrived Tuesday morning.
In addition, students created posters in the hallway! Just another example of the love and support we have in our terrific community!
