Remember to check your clocks this morning! We sprung forward and lost an hour of sleep last night.
On Friday, I realized that we have 90 calendar days until the last day of school on June 10. (If you want to know the number of school days left, you might have to ask your Swifty. I bet they know.)
For me, the school year is kind of like a roller coaster. The start of the year we are creeping up the big hill and then suddenly around October, we started barreling down the track. Then in January, February, and early March, we start creeping up the second hill and then after we return from Spring Break, we start speeding into the end of the year.
Reading this week's newsletter and the amount of increased activity, I feel we are inching towards that downhill slope and the end will be here before we know it! Time to adjust your seat beats and get ready for the excitement!
Meanwhile, the members of our PTA nominating committee are working hard to plan for next school year. To be successful, we need YOUR help and participation. For more information about how you can volunteer to help, see the article about the Nominating Committee below.
We look forward to another exciting week at the Creek! Hope you can attend our PTA meeting on Tuesday! If not, minutes will be available in next week's newsletter.
If you have any questions, please contact any board member.

Spring Incentive Pop & Play Kicks off this week
Dear Swift Creek Families,
We are excited to announce a school wide incentive that will kick off on Tuesday, March 14th and will help us all focus on ROAR expectations from now until spring break. This incentive is called the POP & PLAY PARTY. It will be held on Thursday, March 30th, and here’s how it works…
Students will have the opportunity to earn Pop & Play coupons from staff members when they demonstrate ROAR expectations.
R-Respect
O-On the Path to Success
A-Act Responsibly
R-Remember Self Control
The Pop & Play coupons are very similar to our regular ROAR coupons, with the added purpose of students earning their way to the Pop & Play Party. Students will need to earn 12 Pop & Play coupons from March 14th through March 29th in order to earn the incentive. At the Pop & Play Party, students will have POPsicles and PLAY with their classmates outside for an extra 30 minutes.
Why 12 coupons? This is one coupon per day from the start of the incentive until the end, which is a very reasonable goal for all students. Keep in mind, students don’t have to earn exactly 1 coupon per day. They could get 0 one day and 3 the next. Once they earn 12 Pop & Play coupons, they will sign a chart in their classroom that says they’ve earned the incentive!
While we hope and expect that all students will get to participate in this incentive, there are some reasons that would exclude a student from participating. These reasons would include a student not earning 12 Pop & Play coupons and/or having disciplinary referrals during the time frame of the incentive.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. We always appreciate your support and partnership and we look forward to celebrating our incredible students at the Pop & Play Parties on March 30th!
Sincerely,
The Behavioral Health Committee

Weekly Wellness: Student Yoga Classes
Over the past two sessions, we practiced deep breathing, various Yoga poses, stretches, learned to sit up straight pulling a string from the top of heads, and even had the opportunity to come up with our own
“animal” yoga poses. We encourage you to have your students continue their Yoga practice at home. You check out a variety of fun videos at home on YouTube, called COSMIC KIDS YOGA.
A friendly reminder that the next 2 Yoga sessions are:
Wednesday, March 15 (Grades 3-5 only)
Wednesday, March 22 (Grades 3-5 only)

- Please do not drop off before 8:00 am - We will begin our practice shortly after 8:10 am
- Wear comfortable clothes
- Wear or bring grip socks (similar to socks provided at trampoline parks)
- Bring water bottle

Spring Book Fair: March 20-24
We are so happy to be able to welcome parents/families/caregivers to come shop the fair in person on Family Night! Family Night will be held on Thursday, March 23 and will coincide with the Family Heart Hop at Swift Creek. All purchases through the Book Fair benefit our school!
Here is the link for our fair home page:
https://www.scholastic.com/bf/swiftcreekelementaryspring23
Students are encouraged to set up an e-wallet to shop the fair. If you have already set up an e-wallet, simply log into your scholastic account and activate it for the Spring Fair. If you have not yet set up an e-wallet, you can create one through the fair home page. The e-wallet link can then be shared with family and friends if they wish to contribute funds for student purchases.
Many teachers/staff have set up e-wallets. Please reach out to the teacher for their e-wallet information if you would like to donate funds for them to shop the fair. Teachers will also have wish lists available at Family Night. If you need assistance to provide funds or make purchases for staff, please reach out to Book Fair Chair, Kristen Sherman, via email at [email protected] .
If you would like to volunteer during the fair, please sign up via the Book Fair home page or https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0B4BABAE2C7-spring1
Please feel free to contact Kristen with any additional questions about the Book Fair! Let's Rock, Roll & Read!
Join Us for the Family Heart Hop on Thurs, March 23
Bring your dancing shoes as we get our hearts pumping with lots of moves and grooves in the gym. DJ Burkhalter will be there to lead us in dances, such as the twist! He always brings a lot of energy and excitement to our dance events.
Hungry? We will have several food trucks available in the front parking lot: Grab some dinner and then eat in the cafeteria with your Swift Creek friends.
Need a break? Shop the Scholastic Book Fair! Remember all profits will go to our school library.
No interest in dancing? Or things too loud in the gym? We will have a room with board games and a quiet room where you can just take a break. And don't forget our scavenger hunt around the school. Return your completed sheet and receive a small prize.
You can see all the details on our PTA website: swiftcreekeswcpssnetptahtml.weebly.com/family-heart-hop.html

Thank you to the SCES Service Club!
On behalf of Macedonia United Methodist Church, THANK YOU to the SCES Service Club members for hosting the recent food drive in support of our church food pantry!! Macedonia’s food pantry provides food assistance to a number of SCES families throughout the school year and during school breaks.
Through the Service Club’s efforts, and the generous support of SCES families and staff, 3 car loads of food were collected!
On Saturday, March 4, Service Club members, as well as several parents, school staff members, and your PTA President, joined Macedonia’s food pantry team for breakfast and a morning of hands-on service at the church. This included unpacking, sorting, and shelving all of the collected food (a HUGE task!), making snack bags, sorting and bagging fresh produce, packing food bags for delivery (over 28 bags), and loading cars for delivery drivers.
Students also helped make community assistance food bags for the church. We are so proud of the Service Club members, and it was a joy to work with them at the food pantry. Special thanks to all those who donated food during the food drive!
Regards -
