The March weather is certainly living up to its ROAR expectations! I am really looking forward to that lamb weather at the end of the month.
We are still looking for PTA officers and committee chairs for next year. If you are interested in serving, please send your name or the name of the person you are nominating to Marie Dexter. Officer nominations will be presented at the April PTA meeting and we will be voting on officers in our May meeting.
I hope everyone has a fabulous week!
Marie

Your March Family Fitness Calendar!
Two 5th graders (with the help of Ms. Graves) have created a Family Fitness Calendar for March. If your child completes 20 days of activities, he or she will get a special PE session.

Join Team Swift Creek on March 17 for 5k Walk/Run
The inter-Faith Food Shuttle is helping us get our school garden started in April. Here is our chance to support their programs! We hope you can attend. Please register with Team Swift Creek at the link below. If you have questions, please contact Nehal Outlaw at [email protected].This year the Food Shuttle Garden Gallop 5K will benefit our Growing School Gardens program, which supports high need schools in Wake and Durham counties as they grow school gardens, food access and healthy school communities while working incorporate garden based learning into the school day.
Through our Growing School Gardens program, children at partner schools (like Swift Creek!) have access to gardening and basic food prep instruction during the school day and after school enrichment programs that get them excited about agriculture, eating healthy, and growing fresh produce. By integrating the urban agriculture programming into school communities, the Food Shuttle can impact hundreds of children at once (not to mention parents, teachers and administration) as they work with school staff to strengthen the self-sufficiency skills of students, increase their consumption of fresh produce, and help improve food literacy.
Please join us on March 17th at 8am at the the Food Shuttle headquarters in Dorthea Dix Park for the race and help us spread the word through email and social media! This is a family friendly event - please feel free to bring your kids!

Cougar Chorus Performs March 8 (Thursday)
Just a reminder that our very own Cougar Chorus is performing for State Superintendent Mark Johnson and his staff during Music In Our Schools Month. This is a great honor for Swift Creek. We are the only K-12 school who will be performing during Music in Our Schools Month. We will represent not only Swift Creek but all NC schools.
If you know a Chorus member, please congratulate them on this honor. Also please thank Ms Sutton for all her amazing work and her dedication to advocating for the whole child!
