Friday was another amazing day at our school. It reminded me of what makes Swift Creek so very, very special -- our family community. The Coffee and Conversation with Mr. Propst was so engaging. I loved hearing everyone's ideas and so many good comments about what is happening at our school.
Then we had the Celebrations of Brilliance, which always brings a tear to my eye and such pride for our school in my heart. One particular moment that I want to share happened during the 5th grade celebration. One of our Spanish speaking students was being honored. Since she doesn't speak much English, one of her 5th grade friends bravely stood at the mic and translated everything Mrs. Coles said. We have so, so much to celebrate every day.
The next few weeks are going to be SO busy! But also so amazing. I hope you can join us in the fun. Please feel free to share this email with other parents or families who might be coming to the Creek next year!
Have a wonderful week! If there is anything that you need, please let me know. I am happy to help.

Positivity Project: Social Intelligence
This week in the Positivity Project, students will be learning about Social Intelligence.
What it Means?
You are aware of other people’s thoughts andfeelings. You understand why they do things.
Why It Matters?
Social intelligence helps individuals build relationships – and is important to numerous aspects of a person’s life. It allows an individual to form friendships and alliances. And, it assists a person against being taken advantage of.
On a group level, social intelligence is what allows us to
function as humans. We are social beings and rely on each
other’s cooperation. By understanding ourselves and other
people, we can find ways to collaborate for mutual benefit.
Sunday: PE Push Ups for Points during the Super Bowl
Here is a fun activity that your family can do during today's Super Bowl. Every time a team scores do push ups or hold a plank for that many seconds.
For example:
- The first score is a field goal. A field goal is 3 points so you can do 3 push ups or hold a plank for 3 seconds.
- The second score is a touchdown, which makes 10 points. You do either 10 push ups or hold a plank for 10 seconds.
If you want to share a picture with your Swift Creek family, post your pic on the comments of our FaceBook post!
For more information about this fun activity, see this flyer.
Feb 4 – Feb 8: National School Counselor Week
This week, we are celebrating our wonderful school counselor, Mrs. Chadwick. Please take a moment this week to thank her for everything she does for the school. I happen to know that she loves hugs from our kiddos. :-)
Tuesday: Our Wake Up and Read Book Drive Starts
The Swift Creek Service Club (SC2) will be collecting new and gently used books for kids 0-12 for the Wake Up and Read Program of Wake County. These books are distributed to the 13 most in need schools in our county. Each child in those schools get to pick 10 books of their very own. Plus, books are delivered to preschools and community centers in the area. As a result, Wake Up and Read has a goal of 110,000 books!
Let’s show how much Swift Creek cares about our community. If you have any new or gently used books, please put them in the boxes in the front lobby of the school.
We are collecting through Friday, Feb 15!
Wednesday, Feb 6 SCES Basketball game vs. Dillard Drive Elementary.
This is a home game, so if you have a chance, come cheer on our Swifties.
