Last week was just crazy! Thankfully, we have a nice routine full week ahead. Some highlights for the upcoming week.
- We hope you can join us for our monthly PTA meeting on Tuesday, Nov 15 at 6:30pm. Second grade will be sharing about the wonderful things going on in their classrooms. We also need 20 people to attend the meeting, so we can vote on a couple of budget amendments for the school year. We hope you can join us!
- On Wednesday, we will have our first Celebration of Brilliance for the school year. These events always highlight the very best at Swift Creek. We have so many incredible students and staff members to celebrate. I always leave these celebrations either in happy tears or with a bucket full of joy. If your child is being recognized, your teacher will have sent you a message. If your child is not being recognized this time, we will have another celebration in March. So your turn is coming!
We are so grateful for all you give to our community -- your donations, your time, your energy, your smiles. Our future at the Creek is so bright because of YOU!
If you have any questions, please contact any board member. We look forward to talking to you.

Weekly Wellness: Thankfulness How Gratitude Can Help Your Health
Gratitude is a habit and practice that may actually change your perception of well-being.
“Clinical trials indicate that the practice of gratitude can have dramatic and lasting
effects in a person’s life. It can lower blood pressure and improve immune function.”
Here’s a simple way to get started:
Write these down before you go to bed or share them around the dinner table. In five minutes, you can practice gratitude.
1. Health: What did your body do for you today?
Did you know you take about 8 million breaths a year? Your feet can take you up a mountain; your arms can hold someone you love. Take a minute to marvel at the finely tuned machinery of your body, and thank yourself for the steps you take every day to keep it safe and healthy.
2. Eat: What did you feed your body to nourish yourself today?
Was it an old favorite, something you made or something new and different?
Take a minute to savor an especially yummy meal. And look into some healthy recipes.
3. Activity: What did you do that you really enjoyed today?
Did you give it your all when exercising today, or find a quiet moment to reflect? Take a minute to think back on one particularly awesome moment.
4. Relationship: Whom do you look forward to connecting with?
Is it someone who has your back or makes you laugh until you cry? Take a minute to smile as you think about this special
person. Then make plans to meet!
5. Time: What are you doing right now?
Every single day you wake up with 24 brand new hours. The past is history, the future is a mystery and today is a gift. That’s why they call it the present! Take a minute to be thankful for the gift of time, including any extra time you have right now for your family or yourself.

Message from Mr. Propst: Check Your Bus Status
Happy Veteran's Day
Good afternoon, Swift Creek families. To all of our veterans, thank you for your service. Our students have learned about bravery in the Positivity Project this week. Your efforts stand as a shining example of bravery for all of us.
Our AP, Mrs. Smith, asked that I share this important message regarding transportation with you all.
Hello SCES families, we are aware that the transportation department continues to experience severe bus driver shortages. Currently, WCPSS Transportation Department continues to report that they are still short of the number of required bus drivers to cover assigned bus routes for the 2022-2023 school year.
Therefore, we are asking families to please exercise grace, patience, and understanding throughout these challenging times. Your child may experience uncovered and/or double back routes that will cause significant delays. Please check the WCPSS Live Bus Updates, which are updated every 15 minutes for the most up to date bus transportation information. When we are notified as a school, we will ask classroom teachers to send a Talking Points message to inform parents/guardians. Therefore, we ask for you to download the Talking Points app to receive messages from your child’s teacher. If you have additional questions, you can contact Assistant Principal, ShaRhonda Smith via email [email protected].
If your child is a bus rider, please review their assigned bus route by clicking on the following link: https://www.wcpss.net/Page/25700.
Yours,
Darrell Propst, Principal
