I hope your first week back was awesome! So much excitement and good vibes at the school this week. It was wonderful to have everyone back together. It is going to be a great year!
Below is the news from the PTA for this week. If you have any questions, please let us know!
Enjoy your Labor Day!
Marie Dexter
Monday: No School Labor Day
Just a reminder there is no school on Monday because it is Labor Day! Enjoy your long weekend!
Tuesday: Back to School and Keys to Kindergarten
Tuesday, we are back at it. Everyone needs to be in their seats by 9:15am.
Kindergartners will officially start school on Tuesday, and we are so happy to have them. Parents, you can walk your child in. However, you MUST sign in at the front office. Also, do not drop off your child at the bus loop. Carpool students should be dropped off at the front entrance of the school building. A 5th grade Safety Patrol member will escort your kindergartner to his or her classroom.
After you drop your kindergartner off, join Mrs. Chadwick in the Media Center for her presentation "The Keys to Kindergarten." Refreshments will also be provided. This is a great chance to meet some other kindergarten parents and ask your questions about this upcoming school year. The presentation lasts about an hour.
Tuesday: Fun Run Packets will be sent home
Everyone check your Tuesday folders this week! The packets for our annual Fun Run will be going home.
The Fun Run is the primary fundraiser for the Swift Creek PTA. The money raised during this event makes up our operating budget for the school year. This money allows up to support students clubs (such as Chorus, OM, and Safety Patrol), support our Teachers (we give each teacher a $125 gift card at the beginning of the year for classroom supplies), provide cultural arts performances for our students, and so much more!
Anxious to get started now? You have the option to create an online fundraising page for your student.
To set up an online account:
1. Go to www.thegetmovincrew.com
2. Click on the gold star located in the red box on the bottom right of the page.
3. Create a parent login and register your student.
4. Once you’ve registered, go to the same gold star to log in.
5. Share your student’s page with friends and family by email or on social media.
Would you like to see a sample online account?
Check out Swifty Cougar’s at https://tinyurl.com/SwiftysPage2018
NOTE: Creating an online page is optional. You control how and if this page is shared. The PTA does not share your child's information.
Friday: School Spirit Day!
Show your school pride on Friday by wearing purple or white or gray! The class with the most school spirit will get Swifty Cougar for the next month! Will it be your child's class?
We Need Volunteers!
Are you interested in getting involved? There are so many areas in which we need help.
Tell us your interests at https://tinyurl.com/scesVolunteer
We Need BOG Proctors on Sept 12
We are looking for volunteers to help proctor the 3rd grade BOGs on Sept 12. The more proctors we get, the less TAs that we have to pull out of other rooms (such as the kindergarten rooms!)
This testing session will start at 9:20 and end around 11:30. You will also need to attend a training session on Friday, Sept 7 at 8:00am.
If you can help, please contact Ms. Nichols, our testing coordinator, at [email protected]
NOTE: Parents or relatives of third graders cannot serve as proctors.
Join the PTA
Joining the PTA is a great way to show your support for our programs. Membership forms will be sent home in Tuesday folders. Or you can complete this form and send it in with your $6 membership dues.

Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind is an after school club that helps promote creativity and team work. Last year, Swift Creek had two teams go to the regional competition in March. This year, I am again coaching a team. We currently have two slots available for members. This opportunity is open to 3rd, 4th, or 5th graders. We met on Friday afternoons and some Sundays. Our first meeting is Sept 14. If you are interested in participating, please contact Marie Dexter at [email protected] for more information.
If you are interested in learning more about the program or forming your own team, please contact Suzanna Krutsch (our AIG teacher) at[email protected] or me, Marie Dexter at [email protected] for more information.
