Well isn't turning out to be the relaxing summer break that we'd hoped for. With so many things in flux, it is difficult to make decisions. We know everyone is feeling the stress. :-(
There are so many questions, and the more I talk to people the more I realize that no one has answers. Hopefully, you found the FAQ in the Wake County email helpful. It helped answer some of my questions.
When the PTA executive board met this week, one of our main concerns was how our community is doing. Please know that any of us are here to chat and provide support for you and your family. And no matter what school option you choose in the fall, you are still part of our Swift Creek community. We plan to continue these weekly newsletters and posts on FaceBook and the PTA website to keep you informed (as best we can).
Please know that our Swifty staff are feeling the strain as well. They are dealing with constantly changing information and working hard to be flexible and ready for any scenario. This unlike anything they ever expected in their careers and the demands they are facing seem endless. THANK YOU to our staff for this incredibly challenging, stressful work!!!!
That's all for now. Stay safe. Continue to take care of each other, and let us know if there is some way we can help you.

Monday: Deadline for Declining Bus Transportation for Next Year
If you do not plan to use the bus next school year, please decline bus transportation at www.wcpss.net/declinebus by Monday.
PLEASE NOTE this important information from the Wake County email:
If you were a bus rider last year and you are considering registering for the Virtual Academy but have not yet decided, you do not have to decline your seat at this time.
If you were a bus rider and do register for the Virtual Academy, you will be automatically removed from the transportation system for the first semester of school. You will be automatically assigned to the bus again if and when schools reopen on a normal schedule with all students in the building.
So if you haven't decided whether to attend the Virtual Academy yet, you DO NOT have to decline bus transportation by Monday. If you register for Virtual Academy later, your child will be removed from the bus route (at least until schools reopen).
Next Week: Governor Cooper's Announcement on Schools
In his news conference last week, Governor Cooper said there would be an official announcement about the plan for opening schools this upcoming week. If an announcement is made, it will be shared on the PTA FaceBook page and website.
