Thank you to Jenae and Lisa for making this possible! We'll have more garden updates during spring planting in April!
This week, Garden Gnomes Jenae Delayen and Lisa Saad helped 1st and 3rd grade plant seeds (vegetables, herbs and flowers) that we hopefully can transplant into the spring garden. The students were able to look at all the different types of seeds together, about 15 and compare their sizes, shapes, colors. The seeds are now in our greenhouse basking in its warmth.

A school is more than a building. It is a community. And it takes all of us together to help our students succeed. When Onyx Boutique (in Waverly Place) was looking for a school to help celebrate Earth Month, they chose us! They are donating 15% of all their product sales to funding our new pollinator garden! This money will help us purchase the plants for our new space. Thank you so much to Onyx Boutique for their generosity! We look forward to working more on this project with you! https://onyxhairboutique.com/ A little rain can't slow our garden down. Remember when the plants were tiny and we just had seeds. Well, look at the garden now. As students return to school next week, expect to hear about visits to the garden. Mrs. Sedaghat has harvested the sweet potatoes! You will definitely want to see the videos. Below is the title of each slide that contains a video and a link to the video for that slide.
Take a look at the garden from the perspective of an ant, beetle, or ladybug. Write 6 sentences about what you see. Your paragraph can be either a story or very scientific. Some questions to think about as you write:
Over the past two weeks, the school garden committee has worked so hard to get our kids in the garden. On Sept 30, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders got their hands dirty by cleaning up the garden beds. During this event, students participated in one of these stations:
On Oct 11, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders had their turn in the garden. During this event, students participated in one of these stations:
At the end of the year, many of our Swifties had the opportunity to plant beans, watermelon, cucumbers, and more in the gardens. Thanks to recent rains and our Garden Gnome families the garden is thriving! (Someone even commented to me yesterday at how good they looked.) |
