One of the most exciting weeks of the year is finally here!!!!! It's Teacher Appreciation Week!
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! The PTA will be showering our amazing staff with love this week, but we encourage families to send thank you notes to our teachers, specialists, support staff, and Instructional Assistants as well. Here are the themes for each day!
- Tuesday -- write your teacher a Thank You note or a special drawing!
- Wednesday -- bring in your teacher's favorite flower
- Thursday -- bring in your teacher's favorite candy/snack
- Friday -- Wear your teacher's favorite color
We hope you have a terrific week. If you have any questions, please know.

Minutes from our APRIL 26 PTA MEETING
If you are unable to attend, here are the full minutes.
Here are some highlights from the meeting.
- The PTA budget is on track for this year.
- All grade level grant money has been spent for this year. Hooray! Teachers were able to purchase a variety of materials and supplies that they needed for their classrooms.
- The renewal for the Positivity Project for next year will be due soon. We are waiting on the invoice but this bill will be paid before the end of this school year.
- Highlights from Mr. Propst
- The new school is held up because of annexation into the town of Cary. In the summer, there will be a community meeting where everyone is invited to come review the new school plan and give their feedback. As soon as they information is available, the meeting date and time will be shared with the school community.
- Our last Celebration of Brilliance for this school year will be Wednesday, May 11. This will be in person. Parents and guardians of students who will be recognized will receive an invitation from their child's teacher.
- Field day will return on June 8. We will need volunteers. More information will be coming home soon.
- June 9 is moving up day for our 5th graders.
- If your child has not scored proficient on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade test (not 5th grade science or 3rd grade reading) you can opt for your student to come back to Swift Creek for a morning of remediation and another opportunity for your child to take the test on June 14 and 15. There are NO repercussions for not passing the EOG. The retest score does impact the schools performance but does not determine whether a child is promoted to the next grade level.
- Testing information from Mrs. Hizer, our testing coordinator
- Friday, May 27 - Science EOG 5th
- Tuesday, May 31 - Math EOG Grades 3-5
- Wednesday, June 1 - Reading EOG Grades 3-5
- Thursday - Friday are make up days
- 3rd grade students who do not pass the Reading EOG will be required to take the Read to Achieve test
- Pep Rally - May 20 - We will start by having graduating seniors (former Swift Creek alum) walk through the halls as our students cheer them on. All students out on the field and seated by 2:45. Some of the Athens cheerleaders will come out. There will also be grade level performances. We will end with the cereal domino event.
Our Cereal Drive Starts Tuesday!
The Swift Creek Service Club is collecting unopened cereal boxes to donate to the Food Bank.
Here’s how you can help!
Between May 3 - 19, donate standard size, unopened cereal boxes and turn them in to your child’s teacher or the front office. Be sure to label your donation with your teacher’s name because we will be having a competition to see which class collects the most cereal boxes. (Remember we want full boxes of cereal, not empty boxes.)
Then on May 20, at our school pep rally (to kick off end-of-year testing), we will celebrate our achievement by standing up the cereal boxes around the track like dominos. The teacher whose class collects the most cereal boxes will get to start our dominos falling as the entire school watches!
The more cereal boxes we collect, the bigger our domino display, the more families we can feed! We have 2 boxes so far!
If you have any questions, please contact Service Club leader Mrs. Chadwick at [email protected]. If you are interested in helping on May 20 to set up the boxes, please contact Marie Dexter at [email protected].
Due Friday! WCPSS Family Engagement Survey
Wake County Public Schools is administering a District Wide Family Survey from Monday, April 4 through Friday, May 6. This survey provides families the opportunity to provide valuable information and a high-quality data source for planning and School Improvement.
The survey has been translated into various languages; Spanish, Arabic, French, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese in an effort to provide accessibility to families in Wake County Public Schools. The survey administration language can be chosen by families before taking the survey.
The link to access the survey is http://surveys.panoramaed.com/wakecounty/family. Thank you for taking time to complete the survey and helping us continue to improve Swift Creek.
Yours,
Darrell Propst, Principal

We look forward to hanging our student drawings up in the front hallway and on the field during International Night. We've received about 7 drawings so far, but we want more! Lost your form? WEEKLY WELLNESS! ADD “MOVE” TO YOUR DAY!
Take a moment to check out and print this worksheet from Sanford Health. This will help children to make their own thoughtful decisions about adding movement throughout their day.
Being active strengthens your body and mind and there are so many ways to be active throughout the day. Print out this worksheet and ask your children to write down different ways they can be active in the morning, at school, at home and at bedtime. Then, remind them to follow through with their great ideas. Make “add move to your day” a family goal and get the whole family to participate!
