What a crazy couple of days we've had with Ian's visit. I hope this newsletter finds you and your family safe and sound and hopefully with power restored. Our power came back on late last night so today will be a day of catching as we great ready for an exciting week at the Creek.
The big news this week is the FUN RUN ON FRIDAY! Below you will find the schedule for the day. Parents and families are welcome to volunteer or to come cheer on their favorite Swifty! We will be on the field behind the school, if you decide to join us. Please remember to check in at the tent on the basketball court, whether you are a visitor or volunteer.
Next Tuesday, we will have our October PTA meeting at 6:30pm. Our last meeting was quite fun and this month's promises to be awesome as well. We will have our Creative Arts Team (media, PE, media, and art) sharing some of the work they are doing in their classrooms. You won't want to miss that. The meeting will be in person and virtual. Look at next week's newsletter for more details.
We hope you have a great week! If you have any questions, please let us know.

Fun Run is coming up on Friday, October 7! If you happen to take any pictures, Yearbook would love to have them as well. Pictures can be sent to [email protected]. Thank you!
Deadline for Fun Run Donations is Friday, Oct 14
Remember this is the ONLY fundraiser that we have at Swift Creek, so the money we raise is our entire operating budget for the year. We must reach our $18,000 to fully fund all our PTA programs this year -- staff assistance (such as grants to help purchase classroom supplies), cultural arts programs, student clubs, and so much more.
Also, every week that your child turns in a donation, they have an opportunity to visit the Fun Run wagon on Tuesday. At the Fun Run wagon, students can pick a small fun prize.
You can donate online through the Get Movin Crew website.
If you register your child online through the Get Movin Crew website, you can share this site with friends and families around the world so they can donate too.
For more information, check out this cute video. Share Tools: https://youtu.be/cxIAOWPwCgs
You can also donate using the Fun Run envelopes that were sent home in Tuesday folders.
Help us reach our goal! If you have any questions, please contact Fun Run chair, Annie Pilz, at funrun. [email protected].

Wellness Note
It’s officially fall and we all know that means pumpkins, apples and squash season! When foods are in season, it’s fresh, tastes delicious and there’s plenty of it available! Take advantage of the local farm-fresh goods available to provide healthy and nutritious meals for your family. It’s also a good idea to buy in bulk, prepare, then freeze. When you buy seasonal foods, the cost is significantly lower than purchasing out of season and local goods are more sustainable as they are not transported far. Below are some seasonal foods to add to your fall grocery lists along with a recipe for Butternut Squash Soup, from Rebecca Katz. Soups are a great one-pot, nutritious meal that you can make in advance and also freeze. Enjoy!
