As of this week, for students who are signed up for Plan B, we have some return to school dates.
- On Oct 26, K-3 will start returning to the school building in a 3 week rotation. You should receive your cohort assignment this week. Students will have one week of school during this rotation. The other two weeks the students will be virtual. Then starting Nov 16, students will return to school every day.
- On Nov 16, 4-5 graders will return to school in a 3 week rotation. This 3 week rotation will continue through the rest of the year.
You might be wondering why the difference? It all has to do with class size and social distancing. In Wake County 38% of 5th grade classes have 25 or more students. With these large class sizes, schools cannot maintain the required 6 feet of social distancing for daily instruction of all students. So 4th and 5th must be in a rotation for now.
If you have any questions regarding the next few weeks, please contact your teacher or Mr. Propst at [email protected]
We know that everyone wants to help with this transition. Here are some ways that you can help:
- Have your child practice wearing a mask for longer and longer periods.
- If you are interested in donating items, the PTA is collecting Purell hand sanitizing wipes.
- We will be decorating the school grounds for our students' return!
Have a good week! Together we will continue to #ROARtoSoar.

Positivity Project: Open Mindedness
This week in the Positivity Project, students will be learning about the character strength: Open-mindedness
What It Means
You like to consider new ideas and try new things. You examine things from all sides and don’t jump to conclusions.
Why It Matters
Individuals with the character strength of open-mindedness are more likely to make accurate decisions – and decisions that they won’t regret. This is because they think through all sides of a problem and actively fight “myside bias,” which happens when people generate evidence, evaluate evidence, and test hypotheses in a manner biased toward their own prior opinions and attitudes.

October Fitness Challenge from Ms. Graves
Here is an important message from Ms. Graves!
Let's make October the best month yet. We are back in the groove with school but still at home and we all could use less screen time and more movement.
Here is a daily fitness calendar to add some movement to your day. I encourage you to get your family involved and complete some of these challenges. If not, I want to see you completing them each day.
Pick your level of spook to make them more challenging or to fit into the time you have. You could also use this as a brain break between classes
Have fun and don't forget to tag me

Recycling Updates:
- The NexTrex program is starting up again for the year. With this program, Swift Creek can earn rewards for collecting plastic film and plastic bags.
Here's how you can help!
- At home, weigh all your plastic bags BEFORE you turn them in at your grocery store.
- Email the weight to Recycling Committee chair, Megan Holler at [email protected].
Megan will record these numbers and submit them to the NexTrex program. Last year, Swift Creek earned a planter because of our donations!
Note: You can also drop these plastic bags off during the Backpack Buddies food collection on Saturdays 8-10am at Macedonia Methodist church or contact Megan Holler.
For more information about our recycling programs, see http://swiftcreekeswcpssnetptahtml.weebly.com/recycling-programs.html
