Our 3rd graders in Ms. Kuhn's class will be meeting in the library for now. That way, we can provide social distancing during class instruction. Thanks to Mrs. Wils for opening up that space for us. On Thursday, those Plan B 3rd grades will be taking the NC Beginning of Grade Reading Test. This test is the first time a student in North Carolina is asked to take a state assessment. The purpose of the "BOG" (lovely name for a test) is to establish how far a 3rd grader is at the beginning of the year from reaching proficiency on end-of-grade reading standards.
There's nothing to do to prepare to take the assessment. Just get a good night's sleep the night before, have a healthy breakfast, and show best effort. On Monday, please have your 3rd graders come to school with their school-issued Chromebook.
I enjoyed talking with parents and answering questions at the PTA meeting on Tuesday night. Please know that I'm available anytime via phone or email to answer your questions. I stand by what I told you all back in March - besides the information you get from the district and your child's teachers that you need, I will not inundate you with communications from me that are repetitive or unnecessary. However, please contact me anytime.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Yours,
Darrell Propst, Principal
