Thank you to Ashley Elliott ([email protected]), our Science Fair chair, for organizing this year's fair. We had a record number of projects (14) and students (22)! This is the best participation that we have had in years. The awards ceremony was full of energy and so much fun.
Thank you to the students who participated and the families who supported them! We couldn't have done it without your support.
Before and after the ceremony, families visited one of 10 different experiments throughout the school. As you can imagine, the most popular room was the Slime room. It was hopping the entire night.
A BIG shout out to Lauren Nicholls, STEAM Night chair, who organized the entire event. Thank you to our volunteers and to everyone who donated items so that we could have this event. The students had an AMAZING time.
Are you looking for opportunities to volunteer at the Creek? We have two PTA events coming up this year: Family Heart Hop in March and International Night in May. You can sign up to help below.
Also, TODAY is Mr. Propst's birthday. If you wish, you can sign his birthday card at https://groupcards.app/share/vqgJBsIyfMQ. The card will be sent at noon today.

Weekly Wellness
Does anyone meditate? If you don’t you should definitely try it! The benefits are life changing.
Let’s start introducing our children to meditation. The earlier they practice, the longer they can reap the benefits of it.
“By introducing kids meditation as a practice to help keep children balanced, they’re learning a valuable tool to help them escape from a never-ending stream of conflict, drama, and emotional pressure to a place of still and quiet. Inside themselves they are able to find peace, develop a healthy & balanced sense of themselves, and reflect on life as they learn to reduce anxiety. Kids meditation helps improve self-esteem, and gives kids tools to detach from the need to follow negative peer pressures. As they learn to experience detachment, they can distance themselves from the chaos of daily life and embrace a personal space for relaxation. This will help them experience positive feelings as they learn how to reflect on their daily successes without the anxiety that often clouds our personal narrative.” (from Amity Montessori Online Preschool)
This weekend, you can search some children’s meditation option online or check out this link for some great ones to try.
TIP: Try to be consistent! Try with 3 times a week and then increase from there.

Yearbook is Looking for Photos
Family Heart Hop: March 23 5:30-7:30
Need a break? No problem! We will also be having Family Night at the book fair. So stop by the media center and grab a new book to love. For our sensory sensitive students, we also plan a Quiet room where you can go take a break. We will also have a schoolwide Scavenger Hunt (can YOU find all the hearts?) and a room with some board games.
We are looking for committee members to help with planning, decorations, set up and clean up for this event.
If you are interested, contact Marie Dexter at [email protected].
International Night, Thurs, May 18
We will have International Night again on Thursday, May 18 from 5:30-7:30. Again, this event will be on the field (because really it can't rain twice, right?)
We are looking for familes to present about their countries, groups who might be interested in performing that night, games for the center of the field, and volunteers.
If your family is interested in presenting, sign up at https://tinyurl.com/scesInternational2023
If you know a performer who might be available, have games that we can borrow for the middle of the field, or want to help, contact Marie Dexter at [email protected].
Accepting Nominations for Next Year
Here is the timeline for nominations and elections:
- Now - April: Nominating committee will be accepting nominations.
- In the April PTA meeting, the Nominating committee will present the slate of nominees to the general membership. Please note that nominations can continue to be accepted, but we must present the final list of nominees to PTA membership 10 days before the April PTA meeting. Any nominations that come in after that will have to be presented on the floor of the May PTA meeting.
- In the May PTA meeting, we will hold elections for PTA officers for next school year.
- On July 1, the new officers officially begin their term.
If you have any questions or nominations, please contact a member of the Nominating Committee.
