THE POSITIVITY PROJECT: Other People Matter Mindset
Thank you to all our staff who emphasize the Positivity Project every day in their classrooms and hallways. This program has been incredibly successful because of their support. It is amazing to watch how our students understand and display the Other People Mindset every day.
This program is sponsored by the Swift Creek PTA, which means it is possible because of YOUR Fun Run donations. We are currently renewing your school license for next year, and we couldn't do that without your generous support.
THANK YOU!!!
iNTERNATIONAL NIGHT is this THURSDAY, MAY 12!!!!
We have so much going on this week to celebrate!
Fun Facts During Morning Announcements
Each morning during the announcements, Mr. Propst will share a fact about how schools operate in another country. At home, ask your kids what they learned that day! This amazing list of facts was compiled by committee member, Saki Taylor. Thank you!

Be Sure to Stop by the PTA Table
Before you begin your journey around the world, we encourage you to visit the PTA table to pick up your passport. There are several other activities here that you will want to check out.
- Put your family's star on our world map. We started this tradition at our first International Night and it was a huge success. On the world map, put a star on the city, state, or country where your family is from. At the end of the night, we hope to have lots of stars on the map, which we will display in the front hall.
- At the end of this school year, Ms. Lipe will retire after 34 years of teaching. (All of those years were at Swift Creek.) You and your family will have the opportunity to write and drop off a Thank You note for Ms. Lipe. (Or you can bring your note already made and just drop it off.) We will give these notes to Ms. Lipe at our last PTA meeting of the year on June 7 at 6:30. Everyone is welcome to attend this meeting and end of year celebration.
- You will also have a chance to write a memory of Swift Creek and drop it off for our 90th anniversary celebration.
- We will have spirit wear for sale -- both this year's design and shirts from previous years. The older shirts will be on clearance at $5 each.
THANK YOU!!!!
This event would not be possible without all of our host families and the volunteers on the International Night committee. We cannot thank these individuals enough for their work. From putting together their displays to creating passports to booking food trucks to creating decorations, these folks have done a little bit of everything! If you have an opportunity, please thank them for all their time and energy.

OUR CEREAL DRIVE Runs Through May 19
Some cereal boxes have started trickling in to the school. Thank you to everyone who had donated so far.
Between May 3 - 19, donate standard size, unopened cereal boxes and turn them in to your child’s teacher or the front office. Be sure to label your donation with your teacher’s name because we will be having a competition to see which class collects the most cereal boxes. (Remember we want full boxes of cereal, not empty boxes.)
Then on May 20, at our school pep rally (to kick off end-of-year testing), we will celebrate our achievement by standing up the cereal boxes around the track like dominos. The teacher whose class collects the most cereal boxes will get to start our dominos falling as the entire school watches!
The more cereal boxes we collect, the bigger our domino display, the more families we can feed! We have 2 boxes so far!
If you have any questions, please contact Service Club leader Mrs. Chadwick at [email protected]. If you are interested in helping on May 20 to set up the boxes, please contact Marie Dexter at [email protected].
What an Awesome TEacher appreciation WEek
This week, the PTA provided staff with a yummy ice cream treat on Monday by hiring Jam ice cream truck.
Then the week ended with a HUGE basket raffle. Thanks to YOUR unparalleled generosity every staff member received a prize at the end of the week.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Hospitality Chair, Kristen Sherman [email protected], for her amazing organization of this event. It was certainly alot of work putting together so many baskets, organizing every detail of the raffle and getting the prizes delivered to each staff member. But the excitement and joy on the staff faces as they received your generous gifts was priceless.
Here are some pictures of the baskets. You will be so impressed by how much we can do together! We are #BetterTogether!

THIS WEEK IN PICTURES
- Last week, Mrs. Killius helped our 2nd graders pick over 60 strawberries from the strawberry garden.
- The pollinator garden is so beautiful right now. As stated in a previous newsletter, the garden is also home to several Monarch caterpillars.
- In the vegetable garden, there are snap peas for tasting. The cucumbers and beans are also spouting.
Are you interested in helping maintain the garden over the summer? We need families to come check the garden once a week to water, weed, and harvest! If you are interested, sign up now.
