THE POSITIVITY PROJECT: Teamwork
What It Means
You work well as a member of a group or team. You are loyal, reliable, and dedicated to helping your team achieve its goals.
Why It Matters
For individuals, teamwork often means deferring or delaying individual accomplishments in order to ensure that the group maintains a high level of success. Their commitment to the larger group effort makes them both good teammates and citizens. The positive feelings associated with being part of a larger whole – can be highly beneficial and combat selfishness and egotism.
Our ability to work effectively within group structures is tied directly to the group’s ability to succeed. In schools and workplaces across the world, commitment to teamwork and to the “greater good” helps to further learning and achievement for all group members. Maintaining the idea that “Other People Matter” is essential to any successful team environment.

Weekly Wellness Tip
What is Mental Health?
“Mental health is an important part of everyone’s overall well-being. Although physical health tends to be talked about more frequently, mental health is just as important and is also directly linked to physical health. When we take good care of our bodies, we can sleep better and give our mind the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. When we take good care of our mental health, we can reduce aches, pains and digestive issues, which helps us feel better physically.” To read about prioritizing mental health, check out the complete article from the National PTA by clicking here!

Recycling programs are back! And it adds Up!
SCES PTA has the ability to collect for a variety of specialty recycling programs:
1. TerraCycle’s squeezable pouch program – squeezable pouches, of any brand, with caps on.
2. TerraCycle’s snack wrapper program – foil lined snack food bags.
3. NexTrex’ plastic film program – bags, bubble wrap, overwrap, and other stretchy plastic.
4. Crayola’s ColorCycle program – markers and highlighters.
How You Can Participate:
Collect your recycling materials and drop off a Megan Holler's house OR drop off your recycling items at Macedonia United Methodist church on Saturday mornings from 8-10. (This is when they are collecting items for the food pantry.)
If you have plastic film for the NexTrex program, you can drop off your bags OR weigh the amount of plastic that you have to recycle and email that weight to Megan. Then take your bags to your local grocery store for recycling.
To date, SCES has kept 97 pounds of pouches, 43 pounds of wrappers, 94 pounds of plastic, and 15 pounds of markers out of the landfill. Way to go Swifties!
For questions about the TerraCycle programs at Swift Creek, or to join the recycling committee, please contact Megan Holler at [email protected].
Here are all the plastic bags and film that I've collected over the past month!
