We hope you had a great second week of school (first full week for our kindergarteners)! It is nice to get back into a routine.
Just a reminder that there is no school Monday or Tuesday. Monday is the Labor Day holiday and Tuesday is a Teacher Work Day. We hope this extra time gives you time to relax and recharge and be ready to return to school.
A special shout out to our amazing staff for the past two weeks! The start of school always has its challenges but this year has been particularly exhausting! All reports that I hear is that the kids are doing great and so happy to be back.
We hope you have a great week! If you have any questions, please contact any PTA officer.

Highlights for This Week
- Monday, Sept 6 -- Labor Day! No School for students and staff.
- Tuesday, Sept 7 -- Teacher Work Day! No School for Students.
- Wednesday, Sept 8 -- Return to school! All students must be in class by 9:15.
The Positivity Project Returns!
This introductory week will focus on the Other People Matter mindset. Students will get an overview of the year. Throughout the year, students will learn about 24 different character strengths. We all have these strengths but each of us is stronger in one area than others. The Positivity Project helps us identify and understand these strengths in ourselves and in others.
For more information, see The Positivity Project website.
Many Hands Make Light Work! Monday, Sept 6 10:00am
We will be moving 4 more picnic tables from around the grounds to the area in front of the cafeteria. The tables are heavy so more hands will help make light work. After we move the tables, we will be cleaning them to get them ready for students.
If you can help or if you have a furniture dolly that we can borrow, contact Marie Dexter at [email protected].
Kick Off for the Fun Run!!! Small Pieces Make the Big Picture
During the Fun Run (which this year is Friday, Oct 1), each grade level is assigned a time to run laps around the track! It is always a fun time for everyone!
Our fundraising goal this year is $15,000k. This week, check your child's Tuesday folder this week for a Fun Run packet. We will fundraise through Friday, Oct 8.
For more information about the Fun Run, contact Fun Run chair Annie Pilz at [email protected].

REcycling Programs at the Creek
1. TerraCycle’s squeezable pouch program – squeezable pouches, of any brand, with caps on.
2. TerraCycle’s snack wrapper program – foil lined snack food bags.
3. NexTrex’ plastic film program – bags, bubble wrap, overwrap, and other stretchy plastic.
4. Crayola’s ColorCycle program – markers and highlighters.
How You Can Participate:
Collect your recycling materials and drop off a Megan Holler's house OR drop off your recycling items at Macedonia United Methodist church on Saturday mornings from 8-10. (This is when they are collecting items for the food pantry.)
If you have plastic film for the NexTrex program, you can drop off your bags OR weigh the amount of plastic that you have to recycle and email that weight to Megan. Then take your bags to your local grocery store for recycling.
To date, SCES has kept 97 pounds of pouches, 43 pounds of wrappers, 94 pounds of plastic, and 15 pounds of markers out of the landfill. Way to go Swifties!
For questions about the TerraCycle programs at Swift Creek, or to join the recycling committee, please contact Megan Holler at [email protected].
