We hope you are having a nice, super long weekend. What a wonderful Valentine's Day we had at the Creek. So many smiles and hugs. It was AWESOME to watch.
And what a surprise from our morning Safety Patrol in carpool who handed out Hershey's kisses to us! I suspect we have Mrs. Killius to thank for that sweet treat!
We hope you have a wonderful 3-day week!

Recycling Updates! New Programs Have Been Added!
Another fantastic week of recycling at the Creek. So far this year, we've already saved 27 pounds of trash from the landfill.
In addition, Recycling chair, Megan Holler, has added 3 new programs to the Creek!
CompostNow
Beginning February 19, our cafeteria trays will be picked up by CompostNow for composting.
This new program will mean that the approximately 1,000 compostable trays used each week at Swift Creek will be turned into new soil, rather than ending up in the landfill. We will also receive some of the resulting compost for our school garden!
The PTA will be funding the composting initiative for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. It is our hope that this exciting step is only the beginning of our composting journey at Swift Creek.
Stay tuned for reports on our initial composting results, opportunities to provide additional education to our students about sustainability efforts, and future composting plans. A big thanks goes to Mr. Propst and Ms. Banks, our cafeteria manager, and her team for their support and assistance in implementing this program at The Creek!

ColorCycle
Swift Creek also collects old markers, highlighters and dry erase markers, as part of Crayola’s ColorCycle program (https://www.crayola.com/colorcycle.aspx). If you have old markers lying around, please have your child bring them to school and place them in the collection bin in Ms. McIntyre’s classroom. Ms. McIntyre is sometimes able to use color remaining in the marker for paint, then the marker itself is sent back to Crayola. (Permanent markers are not being accepted at this time.) Thank you for your partnership!
