We hope you are well and staying healthy. I can't believe that summer is almost year. The temperature on Saturday really solidified the start of summer for me.
Below is some news that you can hopefully use this week! If you have any needs or concerns, please feel free to reach out to any member of the PTA Executive Board.
Have a super week! And remember next weekend is a three-day weekend with Memorial Day coming up!

FaceBook / PTA Website Posts this Week
If you are a follower on FaceBook, here is the schedule for posts this week.
- 5:30 A visit from Swifty that you can share with your kids
- 8:30 Readings from the teachers
- 12:00 Updates from Specialists or Support Staff -- except on Wednesday, when we have Brighter Together Wednesday.
- 5:00 General reminders
Please note: We know not everyone is on social media, so we will also have most of this information daily on the PTA Website. Unfortunately because of copyright issues, we cannot post the videos of the teachers reading books, but everything else should be available. We want everyone to have an opportunity to participate!
Do you have something special that you want to share on our FaceBook page? We'd love to see what your family is doing. Send your content to Marie Dexter at [email protected].

Our yearbooks have arrived! Before the end of the school year, the school will have student belongings that were left at the school available for pick up. Sarah is going to put your child's yearbook with those belongings so you can pick everything up at once.
Stay tuned for more information about this pick up. Or contact Yearbook chair, Sarah Wohldmann at [email protected].
Mindfulness Information from Mrs. Hill
May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Self-care is critical for overall mental health, especially in uncertain times. We all know the importance of keeping our physical bodies healthy, let’s focus a similar effort on our mental and emotional health too! Here are this week’s ideas to improve our mental health or to maintain good mental health! Try some out and let us know how it went in the comments!!
- Write a letter to someone to let them know how much you appreciate them!
- Make a list of 10 things you’re grateful for!
- Sit still, really, really still, for as long as you can (try for a full minute!) and notice what you hear.
- Name or write 5 things you love about yourself.
- Name or list 3 things you love doing and one thing you want to try!
Do You Have Foil-Lined Pouches to Recycle?
Megan Holler, our Recycling chair, has been working hard this year to promote recycling efforts in our community. When we were at school, the students had a special bin where to place foil-lined snack wrappers.
Now that we are home, Megan is still happy to collect these items. Just email her for more information at [email protected].
Or if you are stopping by the church on Friday for food donation drop off, Marie Dexter will pick them up from you then. (Or bring them when you pick up your child's school belongings in a couple of weeks. Be sure to label them Megan Holler!)
Saying Thank You to Health Care Workers at Wake Med
We want to show our gratitude and appreciation for the workers on the front line at our local hospital at Wake Med. We invite you to participate in letter writing and/or artwork that we can deliver to the staff at Wake Med. This will help the students practice writing and explore their creative side as well as lift up our community.
Wake Med asked that there not be any demographic, personal emails, or addresses on the letters and limit the art work to an 8.5 X 11 sheet. It is also asked that no religious affiliation is mentioned. You can drop off your art work and letters at the school.
Drop off your cards and artwork in the orange box in the front of the school.
If you have any questions about this project, contact Georgianne at [email protected]. Thank you, Georgianne, for organizing this!

Did You Hear? Thank You Macedonia United Methodist Church
Macedonia United Methodist Church has been instrumental in making our food drive for our BackPack Buddies a success! Their congregation has been donating food, workers, and space in their fellowship hall. We truly couldn't continue this program without them.
Then they top themselves by donating $2700 this week to the the PTA for our programs and needs next school year. It was truly an honor to accept this check on behalf of our school community!!!
One of the greatest things to come out of this pandemic has been getting closer to the members of this church. Together, we are doing so much to support our Swifties and I can't wait to see how this partnership grows in the future.
If you would like to send a Thank You card or have a piece of art work that your child might like to give to the church, let me know. I'd love to surprise them with these. :-)
Advocacy: Remote Learning Survey from Wake County Schools
The deadline is Wednesday! I just took it and it was pretty painless. ;-)
Reminder: Please take a quick survey on your remote learning experience
We would like for families to provide feedback on their students’ remote learning experience so far. This will be the first of two surveys designed to gather information that will be used to help us improve remote learning for students. Please complete the survey by May 20.
