We had a great time watching our students run (and walk) their hearts out as they travelled around the track for 20 minutes.
- Thank you to all the volunteers and visitors who came out and cheered on our students.
- Thank you to our teachers who love sharing this tradition with their classes.
- Thank you to the Creative Arts Team (Dr. Barr, Mrs. Green, Mr. Hines, and Mrs. McIntyre) for spending the entire day with us.
- Thank you to Mr. Propst, Mrs. Smith, and Swifty for stopping by as well.
A very special shout out to Annie Pilz who has been the Fun Run committee chair for the past 5 years!!!! You have created so many wonderful memories for our community and helped us achieve our fundraising goal EVERY one of those years! Thank you so,, so much!!!!

Michael Beadle will be at Quail Ridge Books on Sunday, Oct 16
Every year, the PTA invites writer Michael Beadle to be a writer in residence with our 4th grade classes. The teachers and students LOVE it when Mr. Beadle visits for the week.
Mr. Beadle has published a poetry book. He has upcoming book reading / book signing at Quail Ridge Books for my book, What Makes a Giraffe Laugh.
The date is Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022 @ 3 p.m.
Do you have a 5th grader? If so, you are probably already thinking about middle school next year.
You might be interested in the Young Women's Leadership Academy or the Young Men's Leadership Academy for your 6th grader next year. You can learn more about these programs at Early College Fair on Oct 15.
Advocacy: Early Voting starts Oct 20
The PTA was founded as an advocacy organization for our students and staff. In fact, the PTA was initially formed to advocate for free lunches for students.
In our advocacy role, we want to remind you that this is an election year. Election day is Nov 8, but early voting runs from Oct 20-Nov 5. To find your nearest early voting location, see https://www.wakegov.com/departments-government/board-elections/election-information/early-voting. (If you stop by the John Brown Community Center in Apex in the morning, you might run into someone you know. ;-)
Also, please note: all school board members are up for election in November. Over the summer, the districts for school board were redrawn, so your district might have recently changed.
To view YOUR SAMPLE BALLOT, see https://www.ncsbe.gov/voting/sample-ballot.
Wake County PTA Council along with the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and WakeEd Partnership hosted candidate forums earlier this month. You can watch these forums from the Wake County PTA Council's Advocacy YouTube channel.
Also, on this year's ballot is a school bond. This bond is to fund maintenance, renovations, new school buildings, and technology for Wake County Public Schools. The rebuilding of Swift Creek is NOT part of this bond (that money was approved in a previous bond); however, this bond does fund renovations (such as a possible new HVAC system for Athens High School).
